Astral Spirits began in September 2014 when …

I decided I wanted to try my hand at running a label. I’ve come a long way in those past 5 years and have released an absolutely insane amount — over 100 releases so far — of absolutely amazing music. The main goal of Astral Spirits has been and will continue to be presenting the absolute best in modern — free jazz / improvisation / experimental — music with a DIY approach that will hopefully appeal to people of all ages/genders/races/backgrounds/etc. Although started primarily as a cassette only label, we’ve gone on to include vinyl LP’s, CD’s and our new digital-only offshoot Astral Editions in an effort to include all who still love and buy physical & digital music (still staying away from streaming - sorry).

Hopefully Astral Spirits will continue far into the future and I’m amazing at all the love and support I’ve gotten thus far in these first few years. Things will continue to change over the years (and I know I still have a lot to learn) but I hope to continue Astral Spirits with the same focus and zeal that I started it with even if the number of releases aren’t the same.

Unsolicited demos are still welcomed (I always like to listen to new music) but be aware that we get a lot of demos (and many are very good) and can’t put out everything we’d like to.
